QinetiQ Science Labs

These labs and office buildings belong to one of the largest defence research labs. The labs were used for testing biological, chemical, electromagnetic and radar defences systems for the UK. complete with a top secrete underground bunker using to develop the ROTOR R4, an elaborate air defence radar system built by the British Government in the early 1950s to counter possible attack by Soviet bombers. this place is filled with strange items and mystery.

These offices were used for a range of businesses from an international paper straw manufacturere, a honey based medicine/ oinkment, a snooker club and an engineering firm. the offices remain pretty full of things but the warehouse is now only used to store bales of recycling.

The Auction House

This building was last used as a vintage emporium for selling furniture, clothes, records and more. It was built in 1854 and used to store produce for Nichols & Co, a firm know for their blended tea and roasted coffee around the world. In 2011, the building transformed into a boutique emporium and art gallery that caters to vintage and retro lovers.

Materials Testing Laboratories

This building was the home of one of the UK's leading metallurgical materials testing laboratories. The company offered a comprehensive range of Materials Testing and Mechanical Engineering services to the Industrial sectors. They vacated on June 7, 2017, moving their 40 staff to larger premises elsewhere: The company now test materials for the Aerospace and Medical Device sectors.’

The company started in 1903 and initially tested fasteners, metal scaffolding couplets, scaffolding tubes, weldments etc. from 1988 to 2012 they rebranded to provide as a mechanical and material tester as well as offering calibration services.
